Here in Carson City, as of 10/17/2020 we have a staggering number of active Covid cases – 602. As long as I’ve been tracking the numbers, this is the most cases we have had. Well, thanks to this article on Carson NOW and subsequently this article on The Nevada Independent, now we know why: Warm Springs accounts for 449 cases ( 424 inmates and 25 staff ). Most of our local residents will not be exposed by or to the inmates. But as far as our numbers are concerned we have an artificially high active covid cases number, which induces extra fear in the population, but doesn’t increase actual risk of exposure.
This is why checking statistics is important.
