This week’s plein air painting expedition found myself and 4 others on the 88 heading East into California. For the locals, as you pass the long passing lane, about 1/4 mile up is an entrance to a campground that is closed as a campground but open for day use. There are some great views available within a short hike from the various parking areas. I stumbled into this view 10-15 meters from my parked car. There were also great views of the river. I will have to remember this place as somewhere to take the family for a quick hike and getaway. The lighting change was dramatic and quick – the painting measures 16 x 20 and took just under three hours to complete. I had to hold on to the canvas and easel during the frequent wind gusts – which always makes for a little excitement. Hope you enjoy.
